Hashkama: What in the World is going on?
To know what is going on in the world, we turn to the One who created the world, and to the book that He has given to us. Truth is cancelled by Cancel Culture as man cancels God’s culture and creates his own. What is going on in the world today is explained very clearly. We can put all kinds of designations describing the chaos of our day, Cultural Marxism, Woke, Counter-Culture and so forth. They are all helpful descriptions, but why have these conditions arisen, and why have they arisen practically the world over at this time? Let’s go to God’s word to human-kind.
“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival. The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.…” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12).
There is the mystery of lawlessness, which is already at work. It has not reached its peak, because it is being restrained – The lawless one is yet to be revealed to the world. The reference to “taken out of the way”, or “until…removed” probably refers to the mystery of hiddenness of the “lawless one” that will end when he is revealed. The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the supernatural power of Satan, and will include every kind of power, sign, and false wonder. It will include wicked deception directed against those who are perishing. This might include many of those today whose favourite word is, “save”. They want to save the planet. What is the problem? Why are these people, who are alive and breathing, perishing? They are perishing because “they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them.” They don’t want God’s truth; they have their “own truth”. They don’t want God’s love or God’s righteousness. They love nature; they love the earth; they love a world (1 John 2:15) that is passing away (1 John 2:15-18). They are self-righteous. They are right and God is wrong. It is for this reason that God will send a powerful delusion. We have a taste of this with the delusional man-made climate change and accompanying hypocrisy. The people who love to tell you that the world is going to end unless we eat grass (Daniel 4:33), and we live in holes in the ground, are under a delusion. They want us to willingly join their madness. If they would love the truth, and love God, they would know that God is making all things new. Jesus is the Firstborn of all creation. He is the Firstborn from the dead, and the Firstborn of the new creation. He is the Last Adam. Jesus is all in all. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:16-17). Believers have been made new in Christ. He saves us! We are the first-fruits of the new creation. The delusion the world is under at the moment is two-fold – (1) humans are bringing the world to an end, and (2) humans can save the planet, a world that is already judged.
The trajectory the world is on now is leading to religious transgression and apostasy, moral turpitude and anarchy (Ezekiel 38-39; Joel 2:1). The present powerful delusion is powered by the many false prophets in the world that are leading nations astray, somewhat reminiscent of the false prophets God sent to deceive the evil king Ahab (1 Kings 22:22-23). Today we have the Al Gores’, Greta Thunberg’s, Boris Johnson’s, Princes Charles and William among growing numbers of others. The new ignorance and empty new religion fills the drowsy spiritual gap in Western society. People have something they can believe in (Romans 1-2). Climate change politics is religious fundamentalism masquerading as science.
The Royal Flush
Her Majesty the Queen was co-opted by the Johnson administration into pleading with the delegates at the Cop26 gathering in Glasgow to do the ‘right thing’, though she didn’t go into specifics. As Head of State, she supported her Prime Minister, and tactfully spoke about her late husband, Prince Philip. Prince Philip was actually a climate change sceptic. His concern was for the environment, and he was a long-standing campaigner against ‘the world pollution situation’. While it is correct to say that Prince Philip was deeply concerned with mankind’s threats to the natural world and wildlife: it is correct also to say that he had no time whatever for those who thought that man-made CO2 emissions were the problem here, quite the reverse in fact. It is because of this that he abandoned his work for the powerful World Wildlife Fund, (an organisation that he had helped to found, and one should think twice before donating to it), specifically because ‘it switched from its original focus on saving endangered species to relentless campaigning against global warming’. In 2010, the Duke of Edinburgh tried to invite Professor Ian Plimer, a climate expert who shows that “‘anthropogenic global warming’ is a dangerous, ruinously expensive fiction, a ‘first-world luxury’ with no basis in scientific fact”, to give the Prince Philip Lecture at the Royal Society of Arts. But the RSA’s chief executive then wrote a letter to Professor Plimer saying that ‘with great regret’ it was withdrawing the invitation because ‘members of the Royal Family need to be scrupulous in avoiding any appearance of advocating or supporting a particular political stance’. Someone has since said that, “It is interesting that Prince Charles has never been similarly checked in his interminable speechifying about the need for the world to abandon industrialisation, especially in farming, and return to a state of nature which would actually lead to mass starvation. That, apparently, is not a ‘political stance’.” Indeed, both future monarchs are involved in politics. In a letter to Ian Plimer, Prince Philip described wind turbines as “monstrosities” and questioned whether they served any practical purpose. Cop26 would not have wanted Prince Philip expressing his thoughts at their ‘fancy-thoughts party’, were he alive to do so. Whatever else he might be, Boris is a false prophet. He is madly in love with the climate change delusion. If ever the tail falls off lizard-Biden, what will Boris do then, poor thing? In eight years, Boris Johnson has gone from telling us that wind turbines ‘couldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding’ to boasting that Britain is going to become ‘the Saudi Arabia of wind’. Actually, Britain ranks only sixth in the world for installed wind power capacity, behind China, the US, Germany, India and Spain.
The Con goes On
According to the Renewable Energy Foundation, 3.7 TWh of wind energy in 2020 — enough to power every home in Wales for the whole year — was wasted because the national grid could not accept it. Wind farm owners were paid a total of £274 million in ‘constraint payments’ to turn off their turbines — which was passed on to consumers’ bills. The payments are made to wind farmers not to produce electricity. The payments expose a huge hole in Britain’s renewables heavy energy policy: we have little means of storing energy when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining so that we can use it on dull, windless days. The wind operators are paid more when they don’t produce electricity, than when they do. It’s money down the drain – your money. People are wondering if Russia is going to start a war with the West. If Russia waits a few more years, the West will have destroyed itself, particularly if it continues to follow the Biden-Boris-Balderdash.
The prophets of Baal
Moving on from the Queen and Prince Philip, royals that crossed the red line expressed blue-blood support for the cause of climate change. Prince Charles was surrounded by appalling advisers, that particularly focused on the environment and climate change when he was a young man. Jonathon Porritt was his shaman in those days. Prince Charles is an advocate of Climate Change and of the Great Reset, as is his son, Prince William. Both addressed the politically motivated Cop26 ‘cluster-of-bluster’, with speeches of doom and gloom. The House of Windsor’s foundations are crumbling, but one cannot blame global warming for that. Will the princes become paupers? Probably not, but they do possess poverty of spirit. They have joined the long line-up of modern-day false prophets. The hypothesis that humans can actually change climate is unsupported by evidence from geology, archaeology, history and astronomy, as well as Scripture. The hot air experience is created by dangerous, insane, false prophet fanatics, who are pushing and shoving a hypothesis that is rejected.
So what is going on in the world? It is certainly not about Climate Change. Climate Change is just the trojan horse that houses the deceptions of destruction. The rich are leading the poor into serfdom. These are no legendary Robin Hoods, who robbed the rich to give to the poor. The false prophets are making it acceptable in our sight for the rich to fleece the poor to the advantage of the rich. By giving it a name and a good cause, i.e., man-made climate-change, and saving the planet, the rich are going to plunder the hoi polloi of this world. More than that, the proponents are denying the word of God, and ignoring the Creator God. These are devils in disguise. They gather against God just as the four-hundred-and-fifty prophets of Baal gathered against Elijah, so they gather against the Lord God who is One (1 Kings 18:17ff). Where are today’s Elijah’s? Where are those who will stand up against the false rhetoric, and who will tell the world that Jesus is coming soon? Jesus will put an end to the false prophets and their false and empty predictions. Christians are among the prophets of Baal today. Will they come out from among them and proclaim God’s truth? Or will they remain to feel the pain and perish? Expose the climate change ‘terra-murmurers’ for what they are, by preaching God’s truth.
Are we supposed to just let it happen?
This is a question posed by a friend. It is down to each individual to seek the Lord. We cannot change what God has declared will come upon the earth. We can work to save some out of it. In America, there is a new University being built – ‘University of Austin Alternative College’.[i] It will not follow the woke agenda, but will teach people to think for themselves, how to evaluate, and truly to differentiate good from evil. It will educate in the way Universities did before Cultural Marxism struck. The university says it “will not factor race, gender, or class into admissions decisions, standing firmly against that sort of discrimination.” It will be “fiercely independent — financially, intellectually, and politically.” In sum, it will be anti-woke, anti-cancel culture, and more significantly, pro-free speech — unlike virtually every other university and college in the country. This could be done in other nations that are willing to pay the price; it means individuals putting money where it matters most. Christians led the way in education at one time. They opened schools; but now the education system has shown Christianity the door, and schools don’t want Christians. GBNEWS reported that Durham University is providing online lessons for students, on how to stay safe while working in the sex industry. This is how low they go. It is similarly difficult for Christians working in the NHS, with nursing and all medical staff professions that were largely Christian in the beginning. Fight back. Open classes in your towns and villages for kids and adults, to learn and to be educated rather than be indoctrinated. It will take sacrifice, time, and money. Christians of old did it, so why can’t we? Be wise, and if you don’t have wisdom about what to do and how to do it, ask God for wisdom (James 1:5). You could hold ‘Gospel Clubs’ where you can discuss what God says in His word about the world and how and when it will end, and the various ways to care for His world and the people in it. Also test other changes taking place in society against the word of God. Get God’s perspective then discuss and speak on these things. “To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak; I have become all things to all people, so that I may by all means save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22). It might mean reinventing ways to do personal evangelism, and finding new ways to re-educate people in the truth. It won’t be easy in the prevailing spirit of Babylon, that insists everyone have one language, the same speech, and the same thoughts.
Greed is the Creed
Another fake doctrine is that the world is over-populated. They claim that there are too many people in the world. I heard this proclaimed again on the new GBNEWS. They said the real problem in not Climate Change, it is that there are too many people in the world. They simply exchange one lie for another. The world resources, in this view, are for the rich alone. You do not hear the trillionaires, billionaires, or millionaires offering to top themselves to save the planet. No! It is the poor that must go. The poor will be hit by family planning in the first instance. China have done it in the past; girls born were disposed of at one time. This again is part of the delusion. God’s command was that the first humans should “increase and multiply, and fill the earth” (Genesis 1:28). God repeated this command to Noah and his sons – “And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to him, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.” God provided the earth with the resources that people would need until Jesus returns. The need has turned into greed since the Fall, and since Babylon (Genesis 11:4ff). Humans are the greatest resource on earth. If you care about the earth’s resources, you should care for human life. This doctrine of death and the reduction of human life is the true reason abortion clinics were introduced, and it is why they remain open. Death is the means of life for the wealthy. It is an illusion, because the one that would save his life will lose it (Matthew 16:25; Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24; John 12:25). The rich and powerful are cooking their own goose.
