Journey into Spiritual Warfare
Starting this week (2nd Feb.), a small group of us will be exploring the whole concept of Spiritual Warfare – not as a dimension of the Christian Life, or as the special preserve of a ‘chosen few’ – but as a fundamental aspect of our entire walk of faith. This idea has been developing for some time within the Digging Deeper Bible Study groups organised by Michael Oakley. Then, quite separately, Saffron Planet started discussing Spiritual Warfare, and Paul Luckraft has been covering other aspects in the Thursday evening Bible School. (I have also heard of a number of other churches and ministries focussing on Spiritual Warfare this year.) Each forum is developing the subject in quite different ways, so it seems that the Holy Spirit wants to develop a multi-faceted approach to the topic, and practice, of Spiritual Warfare!
Preliminary details of the Digging Deeper discussion group can be found on my website here but please note, this is a work in progress! At the moment, we just know the general direction and list of topics to be covered (and even that may develop and change as we go forward). As the title of this blog suggests, this is a journey of discovery (not to be confused with a certain Foundations gathering of the same name, but, hopefully, just as creative in its own way).
The discussion group is being kept deliberately small so that conversation can flow freely without needing to be moderated. Each topic will have a short introduction with the relevant Scriptures. These will then be discussed, Yeshiva style – but without the shouting! 2 or 3 topics will be covered in each session, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday mornings. The dicussions are going to be live streamed to YouTube so you can just be a “fly-on-the-wall” listening in. However, if you have a YouTube account, you will be able to submit comments and questions during the live stream and I will do my best to oncorporate them in the dicsussion. The recordings will be available later too on my channel
