Once again Mieke Mantel posted bible verses and sentiments that summed up exactly what was in my mind. I had been pondering the political and social upheaval in Great Britain. There is the breakdown in law-and-order, lack of justice particularly for our children. There are the eco-louts that think of no-one but themselves. Corruption in the police force country-wide \u2013 The Metropolitan Police Commissioner said that he could not rule out the possibility of another Wayne Couzens (the Met officer who abducted, raped, and murdered Sarah Everard last year). There are violent Albanian drug gangs at large, many of which entered the country illegally. Then there is unrest with unions either going on strike or threatening to go on strike. The NHS is in chaos. There is the Woke Culture and Cancel Culture, both straight from the jaws of Hell sent to devour society and freedom. As they say \u2013 the list could go on and on. We are a nation that is not as ease with itself. Nicola Sturgeon \u201cwants to break free\u201d from the \u2018shackles of England\u2019 so that she can rush Scotland into EU oppression and possession. We have politicians, Sturgeon included, that seek glory and honour for themselves. There is the mis-use of power. I was horrified to hear that the British Government are involved in feeding children in Africa on insects. This is a Bill Gates and WEF influence and experiment. Our politicians use their privileged positions to further their own self-importance, self-interest, and self-esteem. Many are globalists that are influenced by outside sources and unelected elites, and have loyalties beyond the UK; and Rishi Sunak is one of them. We now have a practising Hindu as Prime Minister of the UK, who took power on Diwali (24th<\/sup> October 2022). The BBC reported that Sunak\u2019s proudest moment to date was \u201clighting candles on the steps of 11 Downing Street\u201d after he was appointed as Chancellor. Perhaps he will soon be lighting candles on the steps of 10 Downing Street now that he is installed there as Prime Minister. David Cameron was the first to open the door of No.10 to Hinduism when he held a Diwali reception, in which may also have opened Pandora\u2019s Box.[i]<\/a> Diwali is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome. This is a revelation of the depth to which Britain has fallen, and the false gods that prevail against the truth of God\u2019s word. A practising homosexual was recently made Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, with the Archbishop of Canterbury singing his praises.[ii]<\/a> We have an apostate church, and a State that has rejected the Lord God\u2019s protection. It seems as though God has given us over to false gods, which is an extremely serious state for the nation if this is what has happened. Not far down the road, waiting for its opportunity is the spirit of Islam. If Nigel Farage gets his way, and proportional representation is introduced, it will open the gates for Islam to enter Westminster and to rule Britannia. There is already a Muslim Mayor of London. The North is an Islamic stronghold, and that is why there has been little action to protect young white girls from Islamic predators and paedophiles. The Maggie Oliver Foundation[iii]<\/a> works tirelessly to bring the plight of these children to the notice of government and police. The response is very slow, and the girls continue to suffer. Young Muslim men are entering the UK illegally every day, and we will no doubt reap the consequences of allowing this to continue \u2013 and I imagine there is a purpose for the impotence of government and authorities, and that we are meant to reap the consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some will no doubt be encouraged and see some light in the darkness. Two months ago, Sunak is reported as saying that Jerusalem is \u201cindisputably the historic capital\u201d of Israel and that there is a \u201cvery strong case\u201d to be made for moving Britain\u2019s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He is also quoted as saying that, \u201cEveryone across parliament and the country must take a robust position on eliminating antisemitism and I am determined to ensure this scourge on our society is eradicated.\u201d Politicians have a way with words, so we will have to wait to understand what was spoken in the past, before he became Prime Minister, and what those words mean now, and in the future. Jesus said that \u201cif the light [within you] is darkness, how great is that darkness!\u201d (Matthew 6:23). Is Rishi Sunak about to lead Britain into its darkest hour? The most successful political party in British politics, the Tories, has been falling apart at the edifices. Before Truss\u2019 demise, a new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, came from nowhere, and a new Prime Minister, one that had been defeated in the run up for the position a short while ago, is now in place. Strings are being pulled from outside sources. Britain is only a shadow, a pretence of a democracy. We should discern what God is doing and prepare for what we are about to receive \u2013 seen and unseen by the naked eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n How do you pray for your leaders? In prayer meetings you hear people praying for this and for that. If, as God\u2019s word says, \u201cRighteousness exalts a nation\u201d (Proverbs 14:34) how then should we pray?<\/p>\n\n\n\n I will take a further look at the verses in Proverbs before closing. 29:2 is essentially restating the idea found in 28:12, 28. We see the emotional state in two different societies. A society in which the righteous flourish (increase) brings the community great joy (the people rejoice) because it is blessed. In contrast, a people led by a wicked ruler groan under his oppression and foolish policies. We see this in politics today. 29:7 \u2013 The righteous man is concerned for the rights of the poor, and is willing to risk himself in confronting injustice. Often such people suffer at the hands of those that call themselves \u2018just.\u2019 The wicked man is too callous and self-absorbed to concern himself with the plight of the poor. He has no understanding of such. His ignorance is not bliss because his heartlessness makes him culpable before the Judge of all the earth. 29:16 \u2013 When the wicked increase in number and influence, their dominance is pervasive, but it is also short-lived. With their rise also comes transgression against God and man. This in turn undermines public law and order, which then stirs divine wrath (cf.29:2). The righteous endure to see the wicked fall. So there is a warning to the wicked and an encouragement to the righteous in times when the wicked appear dominant. 29:18 \u2013 Without prophetic vision (chazon<\/em>), the people throw off all restraint. In Proverbs the term chazon<\/em> is parallel to torah (law or teaching). Without a message from the Lord, the people will be unrestrained or running wild with disastrous consequences for the nation as a whole (Exodus 32:25; Judges 17:6). Anyone that obeys God\u2019s law will be happy as a result of the blessing that wisdom brings. Proverbs 14:34 \u2013 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Ultimately a nation\u2019s exaltation depends on its piety and ethics, not on its political, military, or economic greatness.
